Bearing witness to traumatised witnesses: a reading of antigone from agamben's perspective
(University of Western Macedonia, 2025) Baştürk, Efe
This article examines Agamben's thoughts on witnessing, as understood through Auschwitz, within the context of Sophocles' tragedy Antigone. Agamben understands the relationship between Auschwitz and witnessing through linguistic impossibility. According to Agamben, the transformation of the event into a subjective experience, becoming the subject of transmission rather than narration, pushes the subject into linguistic impossibility. This can place the subject in a situation where they are incomprehensible and inaudible to others. A similar situation occurs in the tragedy of Antigone. Antigone has failed to bury the bodies of her father and brother appropriately. Antigone is a witness to both the events experienced by her father and brother and to their subsequent declaration as outlaws, including herself. This is essentially what makes Antigone's witness traumatic: Antigone has witnessed, on the one hand, the context of political law that cannot be related to justice and, on the other hand, the way the law makes life fragile. Antigone's testimony is not limited solely to the possibility of conveying the events. Antigone's testimony concerns the dimension of the relationship between law and life that unites everyone, namely, fragility; therefore, bearing witness to Antigone entails an ethical and political responsibility.

Impact of learned helplessness on social media-induced secondary traumatic stress: mediation by religious coping and moderation by quality of life
(Bursa IlahIyat Foundation, 2025) Bakır, Rahime Eymen; Vural, Muhammet Enes
The use of social media, which has rapidly increased in recent years, directly or indirectly affects people’s mental health. The aim of this study is to determine the effects of learned helplessness (LH) on social media-induced secondary traumatic stress (STS-SM) and the role of quality of life and religious coping in this relationship in Türkiye. This cross-sectional study sample consisted of 397 Turkish Muslim adults. The results revealed significant links among LH, negative religious coping (NRC), and quality of life with STS-SM. Moderation analyses revealed that perceived high quality of life moderated the positive effect of LH on STS-SM, whereas mediation analyses revealed that NRC partially mediated this relationship. The results support the idea that disturbing content on social media can trigger traumatic stress, especially among individuals who feel helpless and resort to negative religious cpping, butperceivhdhqga quclityofSitegas abuffering effect.

Immunohistochemical assessment of YAP1 expression in endometrial hyperplasia with and without Atypia
(Galenos Publishing House, 2026) Kinter, Alp Koray; Öztekin, Özer; Yalçın, Nagihan; Özdemir, Savaş; Şahin, Refaettin; Turan, Gülden; Kaban, Alpaslan
Aim: Endometrial hyperplasia, particularly when accompanied by atypia, is considered a well-established precursor of endometrial carcinoma. Yes-associated protein 1 (YAP1), a key effector of the Hippo signaling pathway, plays a crucial role in the regulation of cell proliferation, apoptosis, and tissue homeostasis and has been implicated in tumorigenesis. The present study aimed to investigate whether YAP1 protein expression in endometrial hyperplasia with and without atypia differs from that in normal endometrial tissue. Methods: This retrospective observational case-control study included 122 patients: 41 cases of endometrial hyperplasia with atypia, 41 cases of endometrial hyperplasia without atypia, and 40 controls with normal endometrial histology. Immunohistochemical analysis was performed on formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue sections using a YAP1 polyclonal antibody. Staining localization (nuclear and/or cytoplasmic), intensity, and distribution were evaluated semi-quantitatively. Statistical comparisons among the three groups were performed using parametric or nonparametric tests according to the distribution characteristics of the variables. Results: No statistically significant differences were observed among the study groups in terms of YAP1 staining localization, intensity, or distribution. Both nuclear and cytoplasmic expression patterns were comparable in endometrial hyperplasia with and without atypia and in control tissues. Conclusion: Yes-associated protein 1 protein expression did not differ significantly between precancerous endometrial lesions and normal endometrium. These findings suggest that YAP1 activation may represent a later molecular event in endometrial carcinogenesis rather than an early alteration during precursor stages. Further prospective studies integrating molecular and functional analyses are warranted to clarify the precise role of YAP1 in the progression from benign to malignant endometrial pathology.

Comparative evaluation of curd enriched with essential oils derived from dill, caraway, and cumin
(TUBITAK, 2026) Fidan, Hafize; Kolev, Toncho; Dervish, Denis; Dincheva, Ivayla; Taneva, Ira; Yılmaz, Serkan; Şavşatlı, Yusuf; Stoyanova, Albena
Curd cheese is a traditional dairy product that, in recent years, has increasingly been supplemented with various functional additives aimed at enhancing its aroma and flavor profile, improving overall quality, and extending shelf-life. The objective of the present study was to conduct a comparative evaluation of changes in selected physicochemical, microbiological, and sensory parameters of curd cheese enriched with 0.01% essential oils derived from dill (Anethum graveolens L.), cumin (Cuminum cyminum L.), and caraway (Carum carvi L.) fruits. Fatty acid profiling revealed a reduction in saturated fatty acids and an increase in oleic and linoleic acids in essential oil-enriched curds compared with the control. Amino acid analysis showed higher levels of essential amino acids, particularly leucine and lysine, suggesting enhanced protein retention and balanced proteolysis. Organic acid content, including lactic acid, was slightly lower in treated samples, indicating moderate fermentation activity, while microbiological analyses confirmed the absence of spoilage or pathogenic organisms. Essential oils also contributed to higher moisture retention, reflected in slower increases in dry matter during storage. Sensory evaluation by a consumer panel indicated that all curds were well accepted. The findings demonstrate that dill, cumin, and caraway essential oils can be used as functional additives in low-fat curd to enhance nutritional value, improve product stability, and maintain consumer acceptance during storage.

Deploying artificial intelligence in warfare and national security: A qualitative exploration of strategic implications for Pakistan
(Routledge, 2026) Shahzad, Shahbaz Ahmed; Anser, Muhammad Khalid; Haq, Ihtisham Ul; Aamir, Alamzeb; Zaman, Khalid
The study examines Pakistan's artificial intelligence (AI) strategy for national security and defence. It identifies AI trends and effects using qualitative data from 105 military, intelligence, cybersecurity, and government specialists. Thematic research indicates AI improves military decision-making, intelligence synthesis, surveillance, and real-time risk assessment. Participants emphasised the importance of AI in military resource allocation, target precision, predictive analytics for terrorist activities, and border security. The findings reveal that AI enhances operational efficiency by improving situational awareness, threat detection, and reducing human error. Specialists are debating the ethical and strategic implications of algorithmic responsibility and autonomous weapon systems. Many consider the absence of institutional and legal frameworks for AI in defence a significant policy gap. AI may improve digital protective layers while rendering them more vulnerable to attacks. Due to inadequate training facilities and talent development, shortages in domestic AI research and military innovation capabilities are prevalent. Experts recommended investing in AI-driven defensive ecosystems, ethical protections, and localised AI procedures. The findings suggest that AI could transform Pakistan’s military strategy with adequate leadership, preparation, and ethical considerations.
