Didactic focuses in mathematics education theses focused on technology integration: a systematic literature review
(Necmettin Erbakan University, 2025) Reisoğlu, İlknur; Marangoz, Muhibe Nur
This study aims to examine postgraduate theses focusing on technology integration in the field of mathematics education in Turkey between 2015-2023, taking into account the didactic focus classification. In this research, systematic literature review was used to address research questions. This systematic literature review followed the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis Protocols guidelines to ensure credibility and reliability. Two hundred fifty-five postgraduate theses were included in the study. The study used the Educational Research Publication Classification Form to examine theses years, methods, and didactic focus classification. The technology, theory, and learning areas discussed in the theses were examined according to the categories created by the researchers. Descriptive and content analyses were employed in the data analysis. As a result of the study, it was determined that the theses focused more on Categories 5.1, 5.3, and 5.2. Category 5 was handled every year between 2015 and 2023. Qualitative and mixed research methods were employed extensively in these theses. Dynamic geometry software was used more in theses. Numbers and Operations, Geometry and Measurement, Numbers and Algebra, and Geometry learning areas were focused more frequently in thesis.
Derrida ve bir palimpsest-metin olarak Kurtlar Vadisi’nin yapısökümü
 (Ankara Üniversitesi, 2025) Baştürk, Efe
This study aims to examine the duality between law and violence, which Derrida deconstructs using the concept of the fable, through metaphorical narratives in the television series Kurtlar Vadisi. According to Derrida, in fables, we encounter violence that blurs the boundaries between humans and animals, rendering them permeable and ambiguous. At the root of this violence is a natural drive that presents itself as law but is autonomous from the law. For Derrida, such violence is represented in an animal (bete) or in a narrative form in which the animal is made to speak, as this disrupts the hypothetical bond between power and right. The animal is outside the law since it is guided by its natural drive; but in fables, the animal is made to speak as a figure that justifies the law, which is an expression of transcending nature, through its own natural drive. In the narratives of the Kurtlar Vadisi series, a similar dynamic can be seen: a desire for power which is assumed to derive from the law but which also seeks to become autonomous from the law. This study aims to interpret the narratives in the series through Derridean deconstruction. In the narratives based on animals in the series, violence is given a natural reality. This natural reality implies that violence is the only and supreme law, because "natural" violence refers to a mythic and fundamental law that exists prior to all other laws. The characters representing the two sides of violence in the series (the state and the mafia) give meaning to their own acts by referring to this mythic, originary, and at the same time "animalistic" nature of violence. However, the representation of violence through animalistic narratives not only gives meaning to the act but also gives it an autonomy that cannot be questioned or judged by civil-political law. Violence is recorded in these narratives not as illegality, but as a kind of legality that is autonomous from the law or beyond the reach of the law. Interpreting the narratives in the series through Derrida's perspective allows for a different approach to the tense relationship, very familiar in Turkey, between violence and the law.
Antioxidant properties of methanolic extract of sigesbeckia orientalis l. from Rize
(Kahramanmaraş Sütçü İmam Üniversitesi, 2025) Atak, Mehtap; Bakan Meydan, Zeynep; Yılmaz Kutlu, Eda; Hüner Yigit, Merve; Ejder, Nebahat
Sigesbeckia orientalis Linnaeus is a traditional herbal medicine that has been used for many years to treat inflammatory diseases. The genus Sigesbeckia comprises three species: Sigesbeckia pubescens Markino (SP), Sigesbeckia glabrescens Makino (SG), and Sigesbeckia orientalis L. (SO). S. orientalis has been used in Eastern medicine to alleviate rheumatic disorders, improve joint mobility, and provide protection against toxicity. This plant is naturally found in countries such as China, the Philippines, and Vietnam. In T & uuml;rkiye, particularly in the Black Sea region, S. orientalis is known as Sar & imath;te & ccedil;an. In this study, the antioxidant capacity of the methanolic extract of S. orientalis was evaluated by determining the total phenolic content (TPMC) and total flavonoid content (TFC). The antioxidant activity was assessed using Ferric Reducing Antioxidant Power (FRAP), Cu (II) Ion Reducing Antioxidant Capacity (CUPRAC), and 2,2-Diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl Free Radical Scavenging Capacity (DPPH) assays. The total phenolic content (TPMC) of S. orientalis extract was determined to be 18 +/- 0.57 mgGAE/g dry weight, and the total flavonoid content (TFC) was 8.55 +/- 0.21 mg QE/g dry weight. The DPPH (SC50) was found to be 380 +/- 12 mu g/mL, while the CUPRAC and FRAP activities were 74 +/- 1.99 and 19 +/- 1.38 mg TE/g dry weight, respectively. These results demonstrate that S. orientalisgrown in the Rize & Idot;kizdere region possesses strong antioxidant properties. Therefore, S. orientalis may have significant potential not only in traditional medicine but also in modern complementary medicine.
Assessing the effects of factors playing a role in the red line crisis process on foreign policy output: the obama administration example
 (ILEM, 2025) Demir, Turgay
The President of the United States, Barack Obama, announced in August 2012 that the utilization of chemical weapons by the Syrian regime was redline for US military intervention in Syria. However, a year after, the regime used the chemical weapons against civilians. Although such an act was described as redline for military intervention, the Obama administration preferred to solve such an issue through diplomacy with Russia. This article, attempts to explain factors caused such a foreign policy outcome. It applied an explaining-outcome process-tracing to happenings between 21 August 2012 and 14 September 2013. The article argues that parameters affecting the foreign policy choices of Obama, main and secondary actors in the US foreign policymaking and implementation process and the choice of Bureaucratic Policy Model were main factors causing such a foreign policy outcome. By applying Beach and Pedersen's (2019) explaining outcome process-tracing method and conceptualizing the happenings as a "Redline Crisis", this article aims to contribute to the debates in the Turkish literature over the US foreign policy, and specifically the US foreign policy in Syria during the Obama administration. Findings indicate that a president can use diplomatic channels with his/her international rivals (like Russia) in the context of solving a significant crisis which provides an opportunity for saving his/her reputation against political opponents in the internal politics.
