<summary type="text">Energy resource productivity and environmental quality: A quantile-on-quantile study of Latin America from 1990 to 2022

In this research, we explore how renewable and fossil energy resource productivity impacted environmental quality in Latin American countries from 1990 to 2022, using quantiles for analysis. Our study reveals that renewable energy productivity (RENprod) has a stronger effect in countries with a smaller ecological footprint, diminishing in impact as the footprint grows. Conversely, fossil energy productivity (FENprod) shows an opposite trend. Overall, energy productivity is more likely to benefit environmentally friendly outcomes in countries with smaller footprints at lower quantiles. However, when considering the environmental condition based on the load capacity factor (LCF), which reflects the balance between natural resource supply and consumption, RENprod and FENprod contribute to environmental harm, with renewable energy causing significantly less harm. Consequently, we suggest policy measures to encourage renewable energy supply in sectors such as industries that support economic growth. These policies aim to facilitate a shift toward greener societies with lower environmental impact in the short term, thereby mitigating harmful environmental processes.

<summary type="text">A case-control study on the role of carbonic anhydrase autoantibodies in the pathogenesis and diagnosis of fibromyalgia

To investigate the levels and diagnostic significance of carbonic anhydrase I (CAI) and II (CAII) autoantibodies and oxidative stress status in fibromyalgia syndrome (FMS) patients. A total of 59 FMS patients and 53 healthy controls were included. CAI and CAII autoantibody levels were measured using a manual ELISA protocol. Serum malondialdehyde (MDA), serum total oxidant status (TOS), serum total antioxidant status (TAS), and oxidative stress index (OSI) were also analyzed. The mean CAI and CAII autoantibody levels were significantly higher in the FMS group compared to the control group (p &lt; 0.000 and p &lt; 0.003, respectively). FMS patients had significantly higher MDA, TOS and OSI levels(p &lt; 0.000 for all comparisons), and lower TAS levels compared to controls but no significant differences (p &gt; 0,705). Elevated CAI and CAII autoantibodies and altered oxidative stress markers in FMS patients suggest autoimmune processes and oxidative stress involvement in the pathogenesis of FMS, providing new insights into potential diagnostic and therapeutic approaches.

This study aims to examine the effects of energy intensity, green technologies, environmentally friendly exports, and robotization on energy transition in China during the period 2010q1-2019q4. The Energy Transition Index (ETI), which is used as the dependent variable, includes renewable energy components such as solar, wind, hydroelectric, and biofuel, making the study a direct contribution to the clean energy literature. In the study, the Carrion-i-Silvestre unit root test and Maki cointegration test were preferred among the econometric tests that take structural breaks into account. DOLS, FMOLS, and CCR estimators were used as long-term estimators. Kernel-Based Regularized Least Squares (KRLS) method and Newey-West Standard Error Regression were used as robustness tests. According to the findings, It was determined that robotization has a positive effect on energy transition. In addition to this finding, it was observed that energy intensity has a negative effect on energy transition, while green technologies and environmentally friendly exports have a positive effect. Another finding is that there have been disruptions in the energy transition since 2015. The findings of the study include policy recommendations for the impact of robotization, green technologies, and environmentally friendly exports on energy transition in China.

<summary type="text">The effects of comparisons of physical appearance on social media and social approval on eating attitudes

Objective: This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of comparisons of physical appearance on social media and social approval on eating attitudes among university students. Methods: This was a descriptive cross-sectional study. The social media physical appearance comparison scale measured individuals’ tendencies to compare their physical appearance with that of others, and the need for social consent scale determined the need for social consent. Ethics committee approval was received for this research. The research sample consisted of 371 students enrolled in a university. Results: In the sample, 80.3% of the participating students were female, and 23.7% were overweight/obese. Eating disorders were detected in 11.6% of the students. The findings of this study show that eating attitudes in university students are affected by comparisons of appearances on social media and the need for social approval. It was determined that there was a positive relationship between eating attitudes and comparisons of physical appearance on social media, and as these comparisons increased, eating disorders also increased. Conclusion: Research findings can contribute to designing interventions to improve eating attitudes, the need for social consent and media literacy among students. In line with these findings, media literacy training, activities that promote positive body perception, and programs that encourage conscious consumption of content on social media can be developed. Such interventions help young people develop positive eating attitudes and become more resilient against the adverse effects of digital media and their social environment.
