Aim of this study is to examine the effects of table tennis exercises on mindfulness and psychological resilience in children and adolescents. The sample of this study consists of a total of 30 participants, including 15 athletes aged 10-17 who regularly participate in table tennis training in Sakarya province, and 15 students who do not participate in any table tennis training. The participants were administered the Mindfulness Scale for Children and Adolescents and the Child and Adolescent Resilience Scale Short Form. A quasi-experimental research design with a control group was employed in this study. At the end of the 8th week, the same scales were re-administered. This design allowed for the observation of differences and changes in the levels of psychological resilience and mindfulness between the two groups, who either participated in or did not participate in table tennis exercises, over the course of 8 weeks. Data were analyzed using SPSS 27 software. For hypothesis testing, the Paired-T Test was applied for dependent groups, and the Independent T-Test was used for independent groups. According to the findings, individuals who participated in table tennis exercises had significantly higher levels of mindfulness and psychological resilience compared to those who did not participate. After 8 weeks of training, the experimental group's mindfulness significantly increased, while the control group's mindfulness decreased. The results suggest that table tennis exercises have a positive effect on the mental and emotional development of children and adolescents, demonstrating potential as a complementary tool for enhancing psychological resilience and mindfulness.

Best table tennis rubber selection using decomposed Pythagorean fuzzy-CODAS method

The use of qualified and correct material contributes positively to the performance of athletes. Therefore, sports club managers and coaches need to choose the materials and suppliers that will provide the best performance for their athletes. The selection of sports material is a challenging task that requires choosing among multiple alternatives, considering multiple criteria that require trade-offs. Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) techniques are the most appropriate tool to be used for this purpose. Decomposed Fuzzy Sets (DFSs) and Pythagorean Fuzzy Sets (PFSs) are among the most recent innovations in the literature of fuzzy sets. This study proposes the Decomposed Pythagorean Fuzzy (DPF) - Combinative Distance-based Assessment (CODAS) method, which combines DPFs and PFS, to select the best table tennis rubber for a table tennis club. The decision problem was solved using three different MCDM methods in addition to the proposed method and the rankings were compared. The application results indicate that the presented approach is a robust and practical framework for handling material selection and other MCDM problems.

Psychological health in male athletes: the effect of perceived coaching behaviors on male athletes' anger and aggression levels

Psychological health in male athletes: the effect of perceived coaching behaviors on male athletes' anger and aggression levels
Havadar, Tarkan; Kalkavan, Arslan; Özen, Gökmen
Coaches are the main people who have an impact on the mental and psychological performance of athletes as well as their physical performance. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of perceived coaching behaviors on the anger and aggression levels of male athletes. This study was conducted with 748 licensed male athletes who are over 18 years of age and participate in individual and team sports branches. In this study, the “Coaching Behavior Assessment Questionnaire” and the “Competitive Aggressiveness and Anger Scale” were used as data collection tools. The study results showed that athletes’ levels of evaluation of the coaching behaviors were high, while the levels of aggressiveness and anger in sports were low. It was determined that there is a negative lowlevel relationship between the athletes’ evaluation levels of the coaching behaviors and the aggressiveness and anger levels in sports and that the coach’s behaviors predict the anger and aggressiveness levels of the athletes by 9% and 6%, respectively. The results of this study show that the attitudes and behaviors of coaches can affect the emotional states of male athletes and have the potential to increase or decrease their anger and aggressiveness levels. Coaches who exhibit positive, supportive and modeling behaviors help create a healthy sports environment and help male athletes maintain emotional balance.
