Çağdaş Çocuk Ve Gençlik Edebiyatı Yapıtlarında Model Olarak Sunulan Çocuk Ve Ebeveyn Tipleri

Abstract

Çocuklar ve gençler için oluşturulmuş edebî yapıtların, öğrencilere edebî zevk verme ve okuma alışkanlığı kazandırma gibi faydalarının yanında onları eğitme ve hayata hazırlama gibi işlevleri de vardır. Okuyuculara geniş bakış açısı sunan, içinde barındırdığı farklı hayatlarla karşılaştırarak önemli deneyimler kazandıran kitaplar, çocukların özerk benlik oluşumunda da önemli role sahiptir. Çocuk, okuduğu kitaplardaki karakterlere öykünerek kişiliğini oluşturur ve bunu bilinçaltında şekillendirir. Bu çalışmanın amacı, çağdaş çocuk ve gençlik yazını aracılığıyla topluma model olarak sunulan çocuk ve ebeveyn tiplerini belirlemektir. Bu doğrultuda ölçüt örneklem yöntemiyle seçilen on eserdeki çocuk ve ebeveyn tipleri içerik analizi yöntemiyle incelenmiştir. Çalışmanın sonucunda incelenen kitaplardaki çocuk tiplerinin benzer özellikler taşıdığı tespit edilmiştir. Meraklı, soru soran, hayal gücü gelişmiş, kitap okumayı, doğayı ve hayvanları seven, teknolojinin esiri olmamış çocuk kahramanlar, çocuk okuyucular için olumlu rol-modeller olarak dikkatlere sunulmaktadır. İnceleme kapsamındaki kitaplarda yer alan ebeveyn tipleri ise daha gelenekseldir. Çocuklarını yetiştirmede geleneksel metotlar kullanan anne-babalar; otoriter, aşırı hoşgörülü, kayıtsız, mükemmeliyetçi tiplerden oluşmaktadır. İncelenen eserlerde çocuklara model olmak yerine öğüt vermeyi tercih eden, onlar adına tek başlarına kararlar alan, onların fikrini önemsemeyen, çoğu zaman onları ciddiye almayan yetişkin modelleri de yer almaktadır. Bu sonuçlardan hareketle, çağdaş çocuk ve gençlik edebiyatının okurlarına olumlu rol modeller sunarak onların kişilik gelişimine katkı sağladığı tespit edilmiştir.

Literary works written for children and young adults also serve functions like preparation of them for education and life, as well as benefits such as giving students literary pleasure and acquiring reading habit. Literacy books, which give a broader perspective on readers and gain valuable experience for them by comparing different lives that contain within themselves, have an important role in the formation of children's autonomous self. Child forms her or his personality by emulating the figures in the books he/she have read and engraves this in his/her own subconscious. The aim of this study was to determine characters of children and parents served as a model for society through children and young adult literature works. Accordingly, characters of children and parents in ten works selected with criterion sampling method were examined using content analysis method. In consequence of this study, it has been found that child characters in the books examined have similar characteristics. Child heroes who are curious, questioning, imaginative, fond of reading book, nature and animals and non-technology addiction have been presented to the attention as positive role-models for child readers. Parent characters included in books within the scope of examination are more traditional. Parents who use traditional methods to bring up their children are authoritative, permissive, unconcerned and perfectionistic figures. Adult models who prefer to give them advice, make decisions in behalf of them, ignore their opinions and often hold them in low regard instead of serving as a model for children have also been included in the works examined. Based on these results, it has been reached the conclusion that contemporary children and young adult literature make a significant contribution to their personality development by presenting positive rolemodels for its readers.
