Abstract

Seyyid Hüseyin Nasr'a Göre Gelenek ve Modernlik? adlı bu çalışma, Giriş ve Sonuç dışında üç temel bölümden meydana gelmektedir.Tezin giriş kısmında; araştırmanın amacından, karşılaşılan problemlerden, nasıl bir metod takip edildiğinden ve Nasr'ın hayatı, eserleri ve mensubu olduğu geleneksel okuldan bahsedilmiştir.Birinci bölümde, Nasr'ın gelenek ve modernlik algısını, geleneği oluşturan ve her gelenekte var olan geleneğin temel unsurlarını ve geleneğin kendisiyle olumlu veya olumsuz bir şekilde ilişki kurulan bazı akımları inceledik. Bu bölüm bir anlamda Nasr'ın ?gelenek ağacı? sembolünün köklerini oluşturan unsurlar gibi şekillendirilmeye çalışılmıştır.İkinci bölümde, Nasr'ın geleneksel açıdan insana, kâinata ve bilime bakışı incelenmiştir. Geleneksel insanın, geleneksel bilim algısıyla, ilâhi kaynaklı kabul ettiği tabiatı ve varlıkları anlamlandırmasını gözler önüne sermeye çalıştık. Bölümlerin sonlarında da, Nasr'ın, ortaya çıkan problemlere getirdiği çözüm önerilerini sunduk. Burada ?gelenek ağacı?nın gövde kısmını oluşturan unsurlar ele alınmıştır.Üçüncü bölümde, Nasr'ın geleneksel bakış açısıyla, toplumun bazı kurumlarını ve onların nasıl bir fonksiyon icra ettiklerini ortaya koymaya çalıştık. Modern dünyanın sonucunda ortaya çıkan kurumlarla geleneksel dünyanın kurumları arasında ne tür benzerlikler ve farklılıklar olduğunu tespit ettik. Bu bölümde, bir anlamda ?gelenek ağacı?nın dalları, yaprakları ve meyvelerini oluşturan, toplumsal ve kurumsal yansımalar ele alındı.Sonuç olarak, Nasr'ın geleneği ve gelenekseli tamamen kutsal, dinî ve İlâhi nitelikli kabul ettiğini gördük. Modernizme ve onun türevlerine yer vermek bir yana, tavizler verilerek modernizmle yapılacak bir diyaloğa bile yanaşmamaktadır. Modernin reformu ve ıslahı yerine, tamamen onun yıkıldığı ve gelenekselin temelleri üzerinde yeniden inşa edildiği bir insanlık ve varlık âlemi bulunması gerektiği inancına sahip olduğunu gördük. This study which is named ?The tradition and modernity according to Seyyed Hossein Nasr? consists of three basic chapters except Introduction and Conclusion.In the Introduction, it is mentioned of the aim of the study, encountered problems, a method which is followed and Nasr?s life, his works and his affiliation with the traditional school.In the first chapter, we examined the perception of Nasr?s ?tradition? and ?modernity?, basic elements of tradition constituting it and some trends which related positively or negatively with it. This chapter, in a sense, is tried to be formed like the elements constituting the roots of the symbol of Nasr?s ?tradition tree?.In the second chapter, Nasr?s traditional perspective to human-being, universe and science was investigated. We tried to reveal traditional man?s making sense of the nature and beings which he/she received as rooted from the Divine, through the traditional perspective. And in the ends of the chapters, we submitted Nasr?s solutions to problems. Here, the elements constituting the trunk of the ?tradition tree? are considered.In the third chapter, we tried to bring up Nasr?s traditional perspective on some institutions of society and how they functioned. We noticed the similarities and differences between the institutions which have emerged as a result of modern world and the institutions of the traditional world. In this chapter, the social and institutional reflections that produces, in a sense, the boughs, leaves and fruits of the ?tradition tree? have been examined.As a result, we saw that Nasr perceives the ?tradition? and the ?traditional? completely qualified as sacred, religious and Divine. He isn?t willing to agree neither to include modernism and its derivatives, nor to a dialog with modernism by giving some concessions. We found that he has a belief that there must be a world of humanity and being which the modern is completely destroyed instead of reformation and betterment of it and which reconstituted upon the basics of the traditional.
