Özet
Osmanlı döneminde Trabzon’un bir kazası olan Rize, 1877-1878 Osmanlı- Rus Harbi’nden sonra sancak merkezi yapılmış ve 1924’te mutasarrıflıkların vilayetlere dönüştürülmesi çalışmalarının ardından il olmuştur. Vilayet olduğu tarihten günümüze kadar geçen süreçte pek çok idari değişiklik yaşayan Rize’nin kimi zaman sınırları büyümüş kimi zaman küçülmüştür. Sınırlarının en geniş olduğu dönem 1933’te Artvin vilayeti ile birleşip Rize merkezli Çoruh vilayetinin kurulduğu dönemdir. Vilayette çokça ihtiyaç duyulan bucak ve ilçe teşkilatları 1940’lardan sonra peyderpey kurulmaya başlanmıştır. Bu çalışmada, 1923’ten günümüze kadar ki Rize idari tarihi, idari taksimat açısından ele alınmaktadır. Çalışmada ağırlıklı olarak birinci el kaynaklardan faydalanılmıştır. Rize, an accident of Trabzon in the Ottoman period, was made the sanjak center after the Ottoman-Russian War of 1877-1878 and became a province after the work of transforming the mutasarities into the provinces in 1924. Rize, which has experienced many administrative changes since the time of the province until the day, sometimes the borders have grown and sometimes shrunk. The largest period of its boundaries was the period in 1933 when the province of Coruh merged with the province of Artvin and the center of Rize. After the 1940s, peyderpey was started to be established. In this study, the administrative history of Rize from 1923 to the present day is taken up in terms of administrative division. The study was mainly based on first hand sources.
