Universal basic income, which emerged as an alternative social welfare programme, is a policy proposal that envisages that all members of the society should be paid at regular intervals, without any conditions, at a level sufficient for individuals to maintain their lives at a minimum level. The aim of the study prepared within this framework is to elaborate on universal basic income and to reveal the view of universal basic income in Turkey and the factors affecting this view by multinominal logistic regression analysis. The results show that gender, marital status, status of the job/workplace and age are determinant factors among socio-demographic characteristics in the view of universal basic income. These findings are important in terms of shedding light on the development of effective policies in the design and implementation of universal basic income and similar social assistance policies.
