Abstract

In recent years, new generation technologies have emerged according to the needs in the manufacturing sector. The importance of the “Additive Manufacturing-AM” which is rapidly developing in manufacturing technology and known as “3-D Printer” is increasing day by day. Pre-designed or prototype products that are difficult to manufacture can be easily produced using this manufacturing technique. As a result of the elimination of difficulties arising from production, all designs in mind can be implemented in a short time. In addition, it is possible to manufacture lighter and difficult-to-manufacture geometries. In other words, workpieces with complex geometry which are difficult to manufacture with machining methods can be produced quickly and efficiently with less material loss by using AM. It is an important technique for the manufacturing of strategically important components in the space and aviation sector. In this book chapter, the theory of AM, its application areas, and current studies on the machinability properties of AMed (Additive manufactured) workpieces to be used as final products are mentioned.
