Endovenous laser ablation with 1470 nm radial fiber for treatment of venous reflux: Analysis of 208 patients

Abstract

Aim: The aim of this paper was to evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of endovenous laser ablation (EVLA) as a standard treatment for great saphenous vein (GSV) reflux. Methods. A retrospective study was performed by analyzing the records of 208 patients who were admitted to our clinic between November 2011 and March 2013 and underwent EVLA procedure. Results: The most frequent postoperative complications were sensation of tension and stretching in the medial aspect of the thigh, sensation of regional burning and tenderness in the medial aspect of the thigh, and ecchymosis and numbness in the same region of the thigh. At the 1st month control visit, the GSV appeared occluded in 204 (98%) patients. Conclusion: EVLA performed using 1470 nm radial fiber in the treatment of GSV reflux has effective and satisfying results.
