Porphyrıos Ağacına Dayalı Uygulamaların Sınıf Öğretmeni Adaylarının Düşünme Becerilerine Etkisi

Abstract

Eleştirel, yaratıcı, yansıtıcı ve mantıksal düşünme süreçleri demokratik toplumlarda eğitimin en önemli araçlarından biri olarak görülmektedir. Öğrencilerinin düşünme becerilerini geliştirmek isteyen bir öğretmen, onları üst düzey düşünmeye yönlendirmeli, bu kapsamda kendisi bu becerilere sahip olup bir model rolü üstlenerek öğrencilerinden gelen farklı fikirlere açık olmalıdır. Bu bağlamda eğitimin temelini oluşturan öğretmenlere önemli roller düşmektedir. Öğrenme-öğretme sürecinde öğretmenler tarafından çeşitli öğretim yöntem ve teknikleri uygulanmaktadır. Kullanılan yöntem ve teknikler, kazanımlara, içeriğe, öğrencilerin ilgisine ve konuya göre çeşitlilik göstermektedir. Uygulanan değişik eğitsel yaşantılar, öğrenenlerin herhangi bir konuda sahip oldukları bilişsel, duyuşsal ve devinişsel özelliklerini etkileyebilmektedir. Bununla beraber öğrencilerin düşünme becerileri de etkilenebilmektedir. Bu çalışma, porphyrios ağacı ile desteklenmiş uygulamaların öğretmen adaylarının Genel Biyoloji dersindeki düşünme becerilerine etkisini ve uygulamaya ilişkin görüşlerini belirlemek amacıyla gerçekleştirilmiştir. Çalışma, 2012-2013 güz döneminde Sınıf Öğretmenliği Anabilim Dalı 1. sınıfta okuyan 152 öğretmen adayı ile uygulanmıştır. Tesadüfi biçimde yapılandırılmış iki sınıfta yürütülen araştırmada dersler, kontrol grubunda (n=78) geleneksel anlayışla (öğretim elemanı sunumu), deney grubunda (n=74) ise porphyrios ağacına dayalı öğrenen merkezli uygulamalarla gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda öğretmen adaylarının "Canlıların Sistematiği" konusundaki eleştirel, yaratıcı, mantıksal ve yansıtıcı uygulamalarla daha iyi düzeye geldiği belirlenmiştir. Bunun yanında öğretmen adaylarının kullanılan öğretimsel materyale ve Genel Biyoloji dersine yönelik görüşleri olumlu bulunmuştur. Sonuçlar, literatür ile karşılaştırılmış ve öneriler geliştirilmiştir

Critical, creative, reflective and logical thinking is one of the most important tools of education in democratic societies. The teachers, who are expected to have the students’ thinking developed and supported, are also expected to think in various levels so that they can be a model to their students in this way and to be open individuals for different ideas and various ways of thinking. In this context, first of all, the teachers must support the students to establish the bond of knowledge with life. Students experience with different teaching methods and techniques throughout their education lives. The different educational experiences affect cognitive and affective understandings of students. In this study, effectiveness of porphyrios tree on thinking abilities (critical, creative, reflective, and logical thinking) about systematic concepts of the selected unit in biology course was determined. The sample of this study consists of 152 first class students having education in Department of Primary School Classroom Teaching in fall semester of 2012-2013 academic years. These students were divided into two groups each of which consists of seventy-four and seventy-eight individuals. The results of this study indicated that instruction based on porphyrios tree activities in which visual graphics were used was better than the instruction based on traditional activities on thinking abilities about systematic concepts and promoting students’ thinking features about General Biology course. The results were compared with the literature and recommendations were developed
