Cumhuriyet Döneminde Of İlçesinin İdari Yapısı Ve Nüfusu (1923-2015)

Abstract

Trabzon’un fethiyle birlikte Osmanlı egemenliğine giren Of’un, 1486 tarihli tahrir kayıtlarına göre 30, 1877 Trabzon Salnamesi’ne göre ise 120 yerleşim birimi mevcuttu. Bu dönem içinde hem kazanın bağlı olduğu sancak, hem de kazaya bağlı köylerde zaman zaman değişmeler yaşanmıştır. Bu çalışmada Cumhuriyet döneminde Of ilçesinin idari yapısı ve nüfusu ele alınarak gelişmeler kronolojik olarak değerlendirilmiştir. Zira Cumhuriyet döneminde de Osmanlı döneminde olduğu gibi Of’un idari statüsü “kaza/ilçe” olarak devam etmekle birlikte Çaykara, Dernekpazarı ve Hayrat gibi Of’a bağlı nahiyeler, ilçe haline getirilerek yeniden teşkilatlandırılmışlardır. Bu durum ise Of’un idari yapısında önemli değişikliklere neden olmuştur. Çalışma, Of Belediye Arşivi, TÜİK kayıtları,basın başta olmak üzere telif ve tetkik eserlerden yararlanılarak hazırlanmıştır.

Of district was under the sovereignty of Ottomans after the conquest of Trabzon. It had 30 villages based on cadastral record books dated 1486 while the number was 120 based on Trabzon yearbook dated as 1877. During this period, some changes occurred both in the district to which township was affiliated and in the villages which were affiliated with the township. This study dwells on administrative structure of Of district as well as population during Republic period. It deals with chronological developments within the area. This is because Of remained to be a “township/district” during Republic period as it was in the Ottoman period while sub-districts like Çaykara, Dernekpazarı and Hayrat, which were affiliated with Of, became districts and re-organized. This led to important changes in the administrative structure of Of. The study was based on Of Municipality Archive, Turkish Statistical Institute records, and copyrighted and research works with media being in the first place.
