Demokrat Parti döneminde Türkiye-Sovyetler Birliği ilişkileri: İkinci Dünya Savaşı sonrası dönemin mirası ve soğuk savaş etkisi

Abstract

Türkiye’de çok partili hayata geçilmesinin ardından kurularak 1950-1960 döneminde iktidar gücünü kullanan Demokrat Parti, Türk siyasal hayatının en önemli aktörlerinden biri olmuştur. Soğuk Savaşın hüküm sürdüğü bir dönemde ülkeyi yöneten parti, uluslararası siyasette geçerli olan blok siyasetine uygun bir dış politika izlemiştir. Demokrat Parti döneminde de ABD liderliğindeki Batı Bloku ile ilişkiler, Türkiye dış politikasının öncelik konusu olmuş ve Sovyetler Birliği liderliğindeki Doğu Bloğu ile ilişkiler görece sınırlı kalmıştır. Çalışmanın odak noktasında Demokrat Parti döneminde Sovyetler Birliği ile kurulan ilişkiler yer almaktadır. Bu kapsamda Türkiye’nin Sovyetlere dair tehdit algısı ve Batı Bloğunda yer alması, Stalin’in ölümünün ilişkilere etkisi ve ilgili dönemde ilişkilerde yaşanan önemli gelişmeler ve sorun alanları ele alınacaktır

Democrat Party, which was established after the emergence of multi-party politics in Turkey and governed the country between 1950 and 1960, became one of the pivotal actors putting its mark on the Turkish political life. The party, which ruled the country under the prevalence of the Cold War conditions, followed a foreign policy line that was in line with the bloc politics dynamics in the international system. During the Democrat Party era, the relations with the Western Block under the leadership of the United States constituted a privileged place in the conduct of Turkey’s foreign policy and the relations with the Eastern Block under the leadership of the Soviet Union stayed relatively limited. The study elaborates on the relations between Turkey and the Soviet Union during the Democrat Party era. In this scope, the threat perception of Turkey about the Soviet Union, the influence of Stalin’s death on the relations and the key developments and problem areas in the relations of the parties in the Democrat Party era are analysed.
