Serbest ticaret anlaşmalarının Türkiye’nin dış ticaretine etkileri: Çekim modeli ile bir inceleme

Abstract

Bu çalışmada Türkiye’nin yapmış olduğu Serbest Ticaret Anlaşmalarının (STA) ihracat üzerine etkileri araştırılmıştır. Bu amaçla STA’ların ihracat üzerine olan etkileri ürün grupları bazında incelenmiştir. 1991-2019 dönemi için Türkiye’nin STA yapmış olduğu ülkeler içinde ticarette payı en fazla olan 12 ülke çalışmaya dahil edilmiştir. Çalışmada uluslararası ticari akımları açıklamak üzere kullanılan yöntemlerden biri olan çekim modeli kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen sonuçlar STA’ların ürün grupları bazında ihracat üzerinde anlamlı bir etkiye sahip olduğunu göstermiştir. Diğer taraftan ülkeler arasındaki uzaklığın ticareti azaltıcı bir faktör olarak yer aldığı belirlenmiştir. Elde edilen bu sonuçlar bir yandan Türkiye’nin daha fazla ülke ile ticari anlaşmalar gerçekleştirmesi gerektiğini ortaya koyarken diğer taraftan taşıma maliyetlerini azaltıcı çalışmalara önem verilmesi gerektiğini ortaya koymaktadır.

In this study, the effects of Free Trade Agrements (FTA) made by Turkey on exports were investigated. For this purpose, the effects of FTAs on exports were examined on the basis of product groups. For the period 1991-2019, 12 countries with the highest share in trade among the countries with which Turkey has made FTA are included in the study. In the study, gravity model, which is one of the methods used to explain international trade flows, was used. The results showed that FTAs have a significant effect on exports handled on the basis of product groups. On the other hand, it was determined that the distance between countries is a factor reducing trade. These results both reveal that Turkey should make commercial agreements with more countries and show that it is necessary to give importance to efforts to reduce transportation costs.
