Amaç: Çalışma çocuk sahibi olmayan ancak
gelecekte çocuk sahibi olmayı düşünen sağlık
çalışanlarında doğum korkusu düzeyinin incelenmesi
amacıyla yapılmıştır.
Gereç ve Yöntem: Araştırma tanımlayıcı türdedir.
Araştırmanın evrenini Recep Tayyip Erdoğan
Üniversitesi Eğitim Araştırma Hastanesi’nde çalışan
959 sağlık çalışanından, çocuk sahibi olmayan 600
çalışan oluşturmaktadır. Herhangi bir örneklem seçim
yöntemine gidilmemiş olup araştırma kriterlerine
uygun 217 katılımcı (160 kadın, 57 erkek) ile çalışma
tamamlanmıştır. Veriler Kadın Katılımcı Formu, Erkek
Katılımcı Formu, Kadın Gebelik Öncesi Doğum
Korkusu Ölçeği (KGÖ-DKÖ), Erkek Gebelik Öncesi
Doğum Korkusu Ölçeği (EGÖ-DKÖ) kullanılarak
toplanmıştır.
Bulgular: Katılımcıların yaş ortalaması
27.94±5.38’dir. %73.7’si kadın, %68.7’si bekar,
%67.3’ü hemşire/ebe/sağlık memuru, %73.7’si
üniversite mezunu, %82.5’inin gelir durumu orta
düzeydedir. KGÖ-DKÖ toplam puan ortalaması
37.24±10.02, EGÖ-DKÖ toplam puan ortalaması
30.78±9.89’dur. Erkeklerin medeni durumu ve
meslek bilgisi ile EGÖ-DKÖ arasında istatistiksel
olarak anlamlı fark saptanmıştır (p<0.05). Hem
kadınların hem de erkeklerin Gebelik Öncesi
Doğum Korkusu Ölçeğine göre en yüksek puan
ortalamasının olduğu madde “doğum ağrısının çok
şiddetli olacağından endişe duyma” maddesidir.
Sonuç: Çalışmada kadın ve erkek sağlık çalışanlarının
orta düzeyde doğum korkusuna sahip olduğu
tespit edilmiştir. Henüz çocuk sahibi olmayan ancak
gelecekte çocuk sahibi olmayı düşünen bireylerde
doğum korkusu gelişip gelişmediği değerlendirilmeli
ve eğitim, danışmanlık gibi yöntemlerle doğum
korkusu giderilmeye çalışılmalıdır. Objective: The study was conducted to examine
the level of the Childbirth Fear-Prior to Pregnancy
in healthcare workers who do not have children but
are considering having children in the future.
Material and Method: The research is descriptive.
The population of the research consists of 600
non-children out of 959 healthcare professionals
working at Recep Tayyip Erdoğan University Training
and Research Hospital. No sample selection method
was used, and the study was completed with 217
participants (160 female, 57 male) who met the
research criteria. The data were collected using the
Female Participant Form, the Male Participant Form,
the Women Childbirth Fear-Prior to Pregnancy Scale
(WCF-PPS), and the Men Childbirth Fear-Prior to
Pregnancy Scale (MCF-PPS).
Findings: The mean age of the participants was
27.94±5.38 year. 73.7% are women, 68.7% are
single, 67.3% are nurses/midwives/health officers,
73.7% are university graduates, and 82.5% of them
have a medium income. The total mean score of
WCF-PPS was 37.24±10.02, and the total mean
score of MCF-PPS was 30.78±9.89. A statistically
significant difference was found between the marital
status and occupational knowledge of the men and
MCF-PPS (p<0.05). The item with the highest mean
score on the Childbirth Fear – Prior to Pregnancy
Scale for both women and men is the item "worrying
that the labor pain will be too severe".
Conclusion: In the study, it was determined that
male and female health workers had a moderate
fear of childbirth. In individuals who do not have a
child yet but are considering having a child in the
future, it should be evaluated whether the fear of
birth develops and it should be tried to eliminate the
fear of birth with methods such as education and
counseling
