Bekci, B. (2021). A case study on the interdependence between the coastal ecosystem and humankind. Ocean & Coastal Management, 210, 105666. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.ocecoaman.2021.105666

Özet

The paradigm that is developed for the coastal ecosystem is a phenomenon that reveals dynamic interactions at the local scale using the socio-economic and ecological aspects of cities. Interactions between humans and the ecological process of the region in coastal ecosystems shaped under human control are substantially important and contain puzzles that need to be addressed. This article presents the results of a study that contributes an empirical justification to the argument that the Eastern Black Sea Region is defined as a social-ecological system by associating the life quality of people and the coastal ecosystem. The fact that each study area had different natural ecosystems ensured the inclusion of suggestions and designs that support social interaction as well as the physical and mental health of individuals who have made living with nature, philosophy of life. This study, on the human-environment interactions in the Eastern Black Sea coastal road, examines the travel and utilization experiences of the coastal road users, their preferences of environmental focus, the natural and cultural landscape values of the coastal road. These causal relationships between the naturalness of the shoreline and human well-being is analyzed with the correlation analysis, radar chart, percentage analysis methods and planting design criteria. The article champions conservation policies as well as the preservation of natural and cultural landscape while emphasizing the necessity of a definition with a proactive approach that can satisfy the needs of contemporary development. The study showed that designs for the regional ecology conditions were developed that considers the local conditions and socio-cultural structure, to overcome the problems that may occur in the coastal ecosystems, are required. Therefore, the coastal ecosystems in cities were made meaningful which contributed to the people's coastal ecosystem utilization and a natural resource management model with a connection to the urban image is developed.
