Öğretmenlerin alan değişikliğine yönelik görüşlerinin incelenmesi: sınıf öğretmenliğinden özel eğitim öğretmenliğine geçiş

Abstract

Öğretmenlik mesleği özel alan yeterlikleri farklı öğretmenlik branşlarına özgü yeterlikleri kapsamaktadır. Öğretmenlerin alan değiştirmelerine yönelik çalışmaların 2012 yılı itibariyle yoğunlaştığı görülmektedir. Alanyazında yapılan çalışmalar alan değiştiren sınıf öğretmenlerinin alan değişikliği yapma nedenlerine, alan değişikliği nedeniyle yaşadıkları sorunlara, yeni alanlarından memnuniyet durumlarına, yeni alanlara ve uygulamaya ilişkin görüşlerine ve yeterliklerine odaklanmaktadır. Bu araştırmanın amacı, sınıf öğretmenliği kadrosundan özel eğitim öğretmenliği kadrosuna geçiş yapan öğretmenlerin alan değişikliğine yönelik görüşlerini ve deneyimlerini incelemektir. Bu çalışmada nitel araştırma desenlerinden olgubilim (fenomenoloji) deseni kullanılarak öğretmenlerin alan değiştirme olgusuna yönelik görüşleri incelenmiştir. Çalışmaya amaçlı örnekleme yöntemine göre seçilen 22 öğretmen katılmıştır. Araştırma sonuçlarına göre, öğretmenler alan değiştirmeye olumlu veya olumsuz yaklaştığı gibi şüpheyle de yaklaşmaktadır. Alan değiştirmenin gerekçeleri arasında ise atanma süreçlerinin kolaylığı, özel eğitimde çalışma olanakları, özel eğitim alanında daha mutlu ve tatminkâr olma gerekçeleri öne çıkmaktadır. Alan değiştiren öğretmenler en fazla velilerle ilişkilerinde sorun yaşadıklarını belirtmekte ve buna çözüm olarak etkili iletişimin önemini vurgulamaktadır.

The teaching profession includes competencies specific to different teaching branches. The number of studies on teachers changing their fields has increased as of 2012. Studies in literature focused on the reasons of primary school teachers who have changed their fields, the problems they encounter due to field changing, their satisfaction with their new fields, their opinions and competencies about new fields and implementation. The purpose of the present research was to examine the opinions and experiences of teachers who have changed their field from primary school teaching to special education teaching. In this study, the perceptions of teachers towards the phenomenon of field changing were examined using the phenomenology design, one of the qualitative research designs. 22 teachers who participated in the study were selected by purposeful sampling method. The study concluded that the participant teachers had both positive and negative opinions on field changing and some of them were sceptical. Among the reasons of field changing, ease in appointment processes, working opportunities of special education, being happier and more satisfied in the field of special education were emphasized. They mostly had problems about parents of children with special education and their solutions focused on effective communication with the parents.
