Özet
This chapter, ‘Innovations in Digital Governance for Enhanced Accountability’, explores how emerging technologies are transforming public administration and enhancing governance accountability. It defines digital governance and its importance in modernizing public sector operations, emphasizing accountability as a core component. The chapter outlines the principles of e-governance transparency, efficiency, and accountability, and examines successful case studies from Estonia and India. The focus then shifts to emerging technologies such as blockchain, artificial intelligence (AI), and cloud computing. Blockchain is highlighted for its secure, tamper-proof records; AI for predictive analytics and fraud detection; and cloud computing for scalable, secure governance solutions. The integration of big data to enhance civic engagement is also discussed, along with the ethical and practical challenges these technologies pose. The chapter highlights the role of digital transparency and open data initiatives in improving public accountability, with case studies from Barcelona and New York City. It also addresses cybersecurity and data protection, stressing the need for robust defences and legal frameworks to protect sensitive information. Finally, the chapter explores the role of public–private partnerships in driving innovation and ensuring accountability, with case studies from Singapore and the United Kingdom.
